In the event of a fire the high temperatures cause a chemical reaction in intumescent coatings to expand. Under this heat the paint turns into a foam-like coating called ‘char’. This insulates the steel, protecting it from these high temperatures that could affect the structural integrity of the building.

Intumescent coatings also reduce flammability of painted masonry and timber, successfully reducing the spread of fire. We use paints and coatings from leading suppliers such as Nullifire, Jotun, Leigh’s Paints, Interact epoxy casing systems, british gypsum.
